Easiest way to download the complete source code?

Hi,
I've been trying to download the sourcecode of Mirth from http://www.mirthproject.org/svn since quite some time now but I am not able to make out that is it expected out of me to click on each and every file (repeatitively for sub-directories) to download them one by one? Is there any FTP or any other way from where I can download the root directory straight away?

Also, can somebody please tell me what is the significance of three directories found at http://www.mirthproject.org/svn/ name branches, tags and trunk as I believe the actual code is located at http://www.mirthproject.org/svn/branches/1.7.1/ (please correct me if I am mistaken).

Any help in this regard is highly appreciable.

Thanks & Regards,
Manish Kumar

Hi Manish,

The recommended way of getting the latest code is to check it out using an SVN client like TortoiseSVN:

http://tortoisesvn.tigris.org/

Install the client, create a new directory, and do a checkout of the trunk. The trunk contains the latest development code, the tags contain snapshots of releases (for example, the 1.7.0 tag is the code that was used for the release), and the branches are used for experimental development and should not be checked out.

Hope this helps.

Hi Gerald.
As already stated your last reply was really helpful in getting me through with the source code download process. Now that I've the trunk folder downloaded, can you plz shed some light on which are the crucial directories and files which I should go about to study the working source code of Mirth, do some enhancements etc and after all this finally running the modified code to see the desired changes on my local machine.
I read somewhere that you are working on a documentation to build the source code. Are you through with it? Its really a great job you guys doing. Keep up the good work going...

Thanks your support

Hi, I am using Tortoise Git client, and I got this error:
fatal: http://www.mirthproject.org/svn/info/refs not found: did you run git update-server-info on the server?

What is the problem?

It's a Subversion repository, not Git. Try the Tortoise SVN client.
