Default "File Age" setting in file reader channel

I have a lot of channels that read from an NFS volume. Every once in a while, Mirth picks up a file that hasn't been completely written yet, resulting in an error indicating the message is too short...

I'm trying to do the same thing, but the string I'm looking at can contain anywhere from 1-25 elements. Sure, I can write the code (although ugly), but is there a better way?
