I would recommend using normal DB (derby) instead of Oracle to start using mirth. You can change to Oracle once you've got enough experience.

Default How to execute channel

i am looking for taking data from database and converting into HL7 format and writing into a file.

i created channel specifying source as database reader and gave necessary connection detail (which is connecting properly) . and gave destination file path also.
i added xml to HL7 scripts at scripts tab.

but after creating channel i need to know when it will get trigger??. i have selected deploy option in script tab.

please help me i am also looking for some mirth tutorial which gives basic information about channel and existing API use.??

You define the polling interval in milliseconds on the source tab. The database will be queried evey n milliseconds.
If there are results, they will be sent to destination (if your code is OK), otherwise, nothing will happen.

yes i got ...without enabling channel i was expecting result ...now i stuck into different issue.

I created one channel which configured for picking up data from database and converting into HL7 and writing it to specified location,
I have written select query also and also checked db connection which is fine
but while executing channel throwing some error like "The error is: ORA-00911: invalid character" and showing parameter:[]
I am not using any special character in my query ...
can anyone help me where am mistaking ??

Proceed like this:
- write your sql statement:
var qry = "seélect ... from ...";
- then, put it in a logger statement:
logger.info("QRY: " + qry);
(or logger.error("QRY: " + qry)
This forces output of the full statement in the mirth console (and in the log-file)
- Check if there are unwanted quotes, etc.
-Additionally, paste the query into SQLPlus (or other useful tool) and see where the error resides
