Default Implementation Ideas

Hi all,

I am in the process of creating HL7 messages. I want to read data from database and create HL7 messages and write the data to another database. Is there any way to read data from the database? Any ideas is much appreciated.

Hi Priya,

Currently, there is no way to do this all in one channel. The current release only has support for reading from a database in an outbound channel or writing to a database in an inbound channel. I have opened a report in the issue tracker to get this feature implemented for the 1.2.1 release.

1.2.1 will be updated to allow both reading from any source (File, LLP, etc) to create HL7 and writing those to any outbound listener (including DB).

In the meantime, you can achieve this with two channels.

1. Outbound: DB Reader to LLP Sender
2. Inbound: LLP Listener to DB Writer

Set the LLP Sender on channel 1 to use localhost. Set LLP Listener to read from localhost and the same port that the Sender is set for. In the DB Writer you will want to use the message.rawData variable to pull the HL7 back out.
