Default HL7 Message losing information

I have been working with Mirth to accept messages from our Meditech system. It is working about 90% the way I need it to. The problem is, it is losing some of the information whenever it enters into Mirth. The message being send from Meditech looks like:

MSH|^~\&|ADM|FAE|||200611011510||ADT^A01|ADM-OUT.1.999|D|2.1
EVN|A01|200611011510||||200611011510
PID|1||M000000463||MIRTH^PATIENT11||20061011|M|||| ||||||V00000007021
PV1|1|I|NCSN^312^W|EL|||HARJA^HARKER^JAMES|||ALR|| |||||HARJA^HARKER^JAMES|IN||U|||||||||||||||||||FA E||ADM|||200611011510

However, whenever Mirth gets the message and I look at it, it looks like:

MSH|^~\&|ADM|FAE|||200611011510||ADT^A01|ADM-OUT.1.999|D|2.1
EVN|A01|200611011510||||200611011510
PID|1||M000000463||MIRTH^PATIENT11||20061011|M|||| ||||||V00000007021
PV1|1|I|NCSN|EL|||HARJA^HARKER^JAMES|||ALR|||||||H ARJA^HARKER^JAMES|IN||U|||||||||||||||||||FAE||ADM |||200611011510

It is dropping off part of the location information in the PV1.3 statement.

Any ideas on how to get around that?

I have started some testing with Meditech as well. No problems with my system. I notice that you are using HL7 version 2.1. Perhaps that version doesn't support the additional components (I just use it, don't necessarily understand it )?

Here is a partial listing of a recent message that is LLP inbound to a file writer, everything works fine (Mirth 1.1.0, Win2000, jdk1.5.0.6, MT ADT 1 month old)

MSH|^~\&|||||200610250747||ADT^A08|79900|D|2.4|||A L|NE
...
PV1|1|I|TDSUR^TD2711S^2|EL|||VOOHA^Voogjarv^Harry^ M|||SUR|||||||VOOHA^Voogjarv^Harry^M|IN||H|||||||| |||||||||||TDH||ADM|||200610031032

I have changed the version number on the end to 2.3, and Mirth does parse the statement correctly then. The problem I have is that I would have to pay Meditech to upgrade the statement. If I just have them change the version number, then other parts of the statement do not work properly.

So, what I would really like to see from Mirth would be to take in the statement regardless of whether all the components are correct, and then let me parse the statement for each destination.

SJordan -

1.2 gives you two ways around this:

1. The preprocessor. You can run a regex on the message to change the version before it gets transformed by Mirth.

2. The raw incoming data is available to you throughout the system. If you do not need to transform the data, you can access message.rawData from templates to get the original message back, without any processing.

Hope this helps!
