Default TCP sender : send time out setting

Hi all
I am using a channel TCP sender for the destination. It works fine (It sends around 300 messages/day). I set the "send time out" at 0 (meaning the connection will be kept open indefinitely) . Could anyone tell me what is the impact of leaving it at zero (instead of XXX ms) ? Is there an impact on the network traffic or other impacts?

I have 30 channels working at the same time. Two channels have this setting.
Mirth version 3.5.0.8232
Thanks
Vero
