Default Question on how to filter

I have a message demographic inbound

I want to strip the in2.29 segment. We do not want the patient responsibability amounts to populate from this source.

My question is do I have to transform the message or can I filter?

Looking for a little direction on the best direction. My setup is very basic and simple.

dans is an unknown quantity at this point

You need a transformer. Add a javascript transformer step with something like this:
Code:
if(msg['IN2'].length() > 0){
   msg['IN2']['IN2.29']['IN2.29.1'] = "";
}
