Default Database Reader vs. Javascript Reader

I have a very simple select query to check if a column contains a value and if it doesn't, continue on through the Destination/Transformer/Post-processing steps.

I currently use Javascript Reader on the source to perform this but should I be using database reader instead?

Is there a best practice when to use Database Reader vs. Javascript Reader? Performance better than another?

Generally performance will be a bit better with the Database Reader because it's doing the same thing, except without having to go through the Rhino JavaScript engine overhead.

Always include what Mirth Connect version you're working with. Also include (if applicable) the code you're using and full stacktraces for errors (use CODE tags). Posting your entire channel is helpful as well; make sure to scrub any PHI/passwords first.

- How do I foo?
- You just bar.
