Default Load balancing

Question about load balancing Mirth. After reading some of the literature it looks to me like load balancing revolves around the appliances. Is there any way to achieve load balancing and/or clustering scenarios without appliances? Being primarily a microsoft shop, is it possible to leverage Windows failover clusters and/or other load balancing solutions, or in the very least, is it possible to implement the Mirth load balancing service without the appliances?

Yep, I don't see why not. Being that Mirth Connect can be a standalone application, you can deploy it however you wish. For example, you can set up two or more Mirth Connect virtual machines managed by an ESXi server that handles the load balancing, etc.

Always include what Mirth Connect version you're working with. Also include (if applicable) the code you're using and full stacktraces for errors (use CODE tags). Posting your entire channel is helpful as well; make sure to scrub any PHI/passwords first.

I've been doing some testings with this scenario: 3 virtual machines, one running crossroads for ubuntu balancing the LLP traffic to the other two. If you have more than a node, you can even get HA.
