Default Custom HL7 Segment not pasting

Hi All,

I need to copy values in a field from a custom Z segment. When applying the usual logic below it just clears the field behind the Z segment and does not place the value in the desired field.

Not working
Code:
msg['TXA']['TXA.7']['TXA.7.1']= msg['ZDC']['ZDC.3']['ZDC.3.1'].toString();
Example result, ZDC-3-1 is null and TXA-7-1 remains null.

Quote:
TXA||^Clinic||20190306094500|013661^^^^^^^^IPMS^CO NLT|20190320155630||
ZDC|1|2728\017018^^^IPMS^GP|^Caroline Mary^^^DR||||GP

If I use a non Z segment field all works as expected. Any idea why mirth handles custom Z segments differently.

If you want the Z segment field in the TXA segment then you need to reverse your logic...

Apologies, yes the above statement was incorrect (now edited). I discovered the previous step in my java script was removing the values hence why no value populates in transformed message. Thanks
