Seems you have to be a programmer to use Mirth?

While you do not have to be a programmer to use Mirth Connect, understanding some basic programming concepts like loops, arrays, variables, etc. does help when writing more complex JavaScript transforms.

To start, you can always use the drag-and-drop functionality combined with the Mapper Step to perform basic mappings. From there, you become familiar with the E4X notation, and you can reference the code snippets that are available inside the application to lean enough JavaScript to get you going.

Default Javascript

I see that Javascript is a part of some Mirth processing, however if I am using Mirth to simply move files around between directories at two different sites, what would be the need for Javascript? Wouldn't establishing the channel and scheduling (pickup, delivery) take care of it without event based scripting?

Thanks.

You do not have to use JavaScripting. The majority of our channels do not use it.
