Default Which better for send HL7 batch messages or XML data to Mirth Connect?

Hi there,

This is my first time to use Mirth Connect. So we have two scenarios:

1) Use Java HAPI to generate HL7 batch messages, then send them to Mirth Connect, and through Mirth Connect to send them to client server;
2) Use E4X to code Transformer scripts for XML messages, then send XML data to Mirth Connect and let Mirth generate HL7 messages and send to client server;

We want to know which one has better performance and recommended?

Thank you so much!

Sheng

IMHO I would think the first method is more efficient because there isn't additional transformations to the messages. Mirth can very easily process batch files and deliver them out as needed. Mirth would just pass along the "raw" message as it receives it from the source file.

Creating a HL7 message from XML can be done but I would think there are a lot of message types to consider and that would reduce processing speed and efficiency. Unless you know all outbound HL7 messages are the exact same type and formatting. It's just a lot more work.
