Default Attachment Viewer Error

HL7 message with embedded pdf has encoded pdf replaced by attachment ID and is output to a message that imports into the application with a viewable pdf.

Channel is set up to store attachments. Attachment Mime Type is application/PDF.

But in the Dashboard, on the Attachments Tab, when the attachment reference is double clicked, the SwingLabs PDF Viewer opens an a popup error states: C:\Users...\AppData\Local\Temp...pdf doesn't appear to be a PDF file. : Expected 'xref' at start of table

The file that is pointed to in the file path is a pdf and opens fine an Adobe Reader.

Two questions:
1. With 'Store Attachments' checked wouldn't the attachment be stored in the postgreSQL database rather than in a temp folder?

2. What does the error indicate?

Default

Yes, it's stored in the database. However when you view it in the message browser, it's cached in a temp folder temporarily.

It could be that your PDF is perfectly valid, but for whatever reason the viewer isn't able to read it. Try writing that attachment out to a file with a File Writer (binary mode) and see if it's still readable by Adobe Reader. Though if you went directly to the temp file, sounds like it would be.

Always include what Mirth Connect version you're working with. Also include (if applicable) the code you're using and full stacktraces for errors (use CODE tags). Posting your entire channel is helpful as well; make sure to scrub any PHI/passwords first.
