Thanks for y'alls help...I got it to work.

Since I had a record sequence, I used the code below:

//MessageControlID

var sequence = msg['member']['RecordSeq'].toString();
var date = DateUtil.getCurrentDate('yyyyMMddHHmmssSSSS');  
tmp['MSH']['MSH.10']['MSH.10.1'] = date.concat(sequence);

Assuming your Mirth version is at least 3.5,
Use this:
msg['MSH']['MSH.10']['MSH.10.1']=connectorMessage.getMessageId();

And you should be good to go, unless they require a certain format but this will give you a regular number and unique for each message.
