Default 3.5.1 channel format imported into 3.6.1 failing

When trying to import a channel formatted in the 3.5.1 format into mirth version 3.6.1,

I am prompted for automatic conversion.
I select yes.
Then get the following error:

Invalid channel file:

Default

I think you clicked "Import Channel" then browsed your file system and selected an XML file of an exported group, not an individual channel.
