Default Need Help Extracting Individual ORMs From A Text File By Accession

Hello,

If I am duplicating a different thread, please let me know.

I was wondering if anyone might have been in a situation where they needed to extract HL7 messages by accession number from a log text file? Or, from many text files?

I have been searching for something which might get me started building a thread which will read a list of accessions and then, when I feed a log file with about 70K ORMs, only output the ORMs within the within the file which contain an accession number from a list of accessions I have.

Any help, just a pointer or anything, is greatly appreciated. Been racking my brain on this one.

Thank you all in advance, this is a very helpful community.

Probably the easiest thing to do it use a filter on accession number?
  • On the source tab of your channel, click Edit Filter in the left menu.
  • Add a new Rule Builder step, and put the path to your accession number in the field.
  • Change the condition to Equals.
  • Add your accession numbers to the Value table

If you add a custom metadata field to your channel for accession#, that would make it easily searchable in the message browser, too.

Not sure how often you'll have to repeat this, but if you store the messages in a database, you could pass in accession numbers as your message, and then query the database.

Thanks you very much for your help!

I will give the filter a try. I won't have to use it often, but it will be necessary to clean up after Cerner...

Will reply with results.
