Default FTP message marked as SENT but not on FTP server

Using Mirth 3.2, I am trying to set up an ftp connection to a vendor. I have always used TCP/IP before, so maybe I'm doing something wrong, but I can't figure it out. I set up the ftp and the message shows as SENT in Mirth, but the file is not on the server. I have also tried testing this to an ftp server on our network with the same results. Here is what shows in Mirth as a Response:

SENT: File successfully written: ftp://172.20.18.138/send/test.txt

I have it set up as a File Writer with these settings (this is to our TEST ftp server):
Queue Messages: Never
Method: ftp
ftp://172.20.18.138 / send
File Name: test.txt (Have also tried using variables)
Anonymous: Yes
Timeout: 100000
Passive: Yes
Validate: Yes
File Exists: Error
Create Temp File: No
File Type: Text
Encoding: Default
Template: ${message.encodedData}

I have tried various setting changes with no success. However, if I write the file to a network share using the File method, I can use the Windows command line ftp to successfully copy the file to the ftp server.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Anonymous ftp is pretty unusual these days. When you used the windows command line ftp client, did you also connect anonymously?

Yes, I did. This is just a test ftp server to help me test this. That's why it's anonymous.

Any other thoughts? I can't get this to work yet. I tried installing Mirth on a computer outside our network and had the same results. Mirth says the file was sent, but there is no file on the FTP server. I must have something set up wrong.

Does anyone have an FTP channel they could send me? Preferably with EDI as this is the first time I'm working with EDI also and maybe the problem lies there.

Sorry, I don't know. I usually try to avoid plain ftp whenever possible, and I've never had this issue with sftp. For mirth to be saying the message is sent, I would think that means that the ftp server is responding with a code that the put command was successful. According to the spec that should be 252 FTP transfer completed correctly. Maybe you can try a packet capture and see what's really going on.
