MirthMatch Main Architecture

  • Entity Domain: The set of all entities whose identifiers should be matched. An Entity Domain contains many Identifier Domains. An entity domain might contain all of a system's patients or providers.
  • Identifier Domain: The set entities who are identified by a common authority (e.g., lab, clinic, hospital, etc.). Suppose we have an Entity Domain that matches Patients. The entity domain would match patients between identifier domains, each of which assigns patients its own identifier (or, local id as it is known in Mirth Match).
  • Domain Group: Grouping of Identifier Domains within an Entity Domain.
  • Workitem: A workitem is created when a potential entity match is found (or, on auto-link when the "create review workitem on auto-link" option on the Entity Domain is checked). The goal of this is to flag possibly related entities for manual linking/merging.
